girls locker room
Wow! The whole locker room incident packs quite a punch, eh? This has to be one of the worst incidents of bullying I've ever read. If you'd been in the room when this happened, would you have participated, even if you didn't want to, just so you'd be "like everyone else," or would you be brave enough to run and get help? Would you come to Carrie's defense? King's reaction of all the different girls in the room, including Sue and the teacher, really made me think about this.

Oh my god, yes, that was horrible!! I did that for my English book project as the most important scene in the book because if that hadnt happened... maybe none of the other things would have either. She realizes she has TK in this scene, she gets her first mentration and realizes what a horrible mother she has, and she also gets an unknown friend and kindred spirit.
sorry, forgot to put my name, lol that last post was by Jasmine
Wow.
I honestly think all of her problems with school lie, in the simplest form, with her mother. Her mother didn't do her job as a parent to condition her child to the outside world, and therefore had failed Carrie in the worst possible sense. By not telling Carrie about a woman's cycle and what to do about it, she set her daughter up for at best, major trauma, and at worst, like we saw here, increased ridicule and even hatred by her peers.
Her mother was an unfit parent in my opinion, and Carrie is very much the victim in this entire book. The fact that everyone gets their dues at the end of the book doesn't make her any less of a martyr in my eyes.
